Our Lady of the Isles
Our Lady of the Isles was commissioned shortly after the Ministry of Defense proposed a missile testing range be constructed. Led by parish priest Canon John Morrison, locals opposed the project, fearing it would harm their culture and way of life. The statue honours the Virgin Mary and stands as a lasting symbol of island identity. Built with community support, it sits proudly on the west side of Reuval.
Loch Druidibeg
Loch Druidibeg is one of the best places in the Hebrides to spot island wildlife, stretching from the Atlantic coast to the foot of the mountains. A self-guided trail winds past the loch and through croftland, offering stunning views and great photo opportunities. Flora Macdonald’s Birthplace
Discover the story of Flora MacDonald, born in the Western Isles in 1722. She became a Jacobite heroine by helping Bonnie Prince Charlie escape "over the sea to Skye" after the Battle of Culloden. A monument on South Uist marks her birthplace, though some believe she was born in Balivanich on Benbecula. Her legacy lives on in the history of the Outer Hebrides.

Ushenish Lighthouse
Photo credit: Ian Cowe. Ushenish Lighthouse was built in 1857 by engineers David and Thomas Stevenson, featuring a new ‘condensing’ light system developed by Thomas. It was one of the first major lighthouses to be automated, switching to a gas-operated Dalen beacon in 1970. The light was remotely monitored from Neist Point Lighthouse on Skye, marking a key moment in the evolution of lighthouse technology.
Polochar Stone
Standing just beside the inn, this ancient Bronze Age monolith has watched over South Uist for more than three millennia. Steeped in legend and mystery, it connects the landscape to the island’s earliest settlers and remains a striking reminder of its deep past.

BY FERRY
Ferry services connect South Uist to the mainland and nearby islands, with the closest port at Lochboisdale and a short drive from Eriskay over the causeway.
BY PLANE
You can catch a flight to Benbecula Airport which is an hour away from the hotel. Loganair has regular flights from Glasgow.
